LET THE CLIENT BEWARE

It has come to my attention that a number of mental health practitioners have been advertising themselves as, or presenting themselves as, proficient providers of the Turning Points For Families intervention on the basis that they have received some training from me. This elementary training may have included some foundational principles of family systems therapy and/or training on the memorabilia intervention--and nothing more. This elementary training, therefore, does not prepare anyone to independently provide the TPFF intervention. What is particularly unsettling about these unauthorized and misleading representations is that the degree and licensing requirements for many of these practitioners did not make the family the focus of their education, training, and internships. I have approved the following two mental health clinicians to independently provide the TPFF intervention: Loretta Maase, MA, LPC of Texas, and Caitlin Burgess, LMFT, JD of California.
